We formally invite you to La Salle’s first musical production in four years- RIDE THE CYCLONE HIGH SCHOOL EDITION. RIDE THE CYCLONE is an absurd dark comedy about six members of the St Cassian High School chamber choir who perish in a roller coaster accident (and that’s just in the first five minutes of this 90-minute musical). Trapped inside a purgatorial fortune-telling machine, each student makes a case for why they should get another shot at life… through song! La Salle was selected to be one of the first schools in the country to produce the new High School Edition of the show, which has been carefully curated to be made suitable for teenage actors and family audiences.
La Salle’s production is a true cross-campus collaboration, and features a live student and faculty band (helmed by Music Director Greg “Mr. Z” Ziomek), and choreography by Dance Director Roberta Shaw in collaboration with junior Alanna Valer. The show is student-designed (helmed by student designers Grady Van Buren and Evelyn Ornelas), and built in collaboration with generous parent volunteers and assistance from facilities team member Tim Stanton. Promotional materials for the show were created by seniors Sophia Gokgoz and Kengo Takada. The show features the work of over 40 Drama, Music, and Dance Department students who have been preparing since this past November to bring this musical to life.
Ride the Cyclone High School Edition will run for 8 performances in the Grinstead Theater from Thursday, February 29th to Sunday, March 10th.
