We have been educating students in the greater Pasadena area for over 60 years. Our roots are immersed in a rich history and tradition that goes back more than 300 years to the Lasallian founder, St. John Baptist de la Salle, and the Christian schools he created.

All prospective students and parents are invited to submit an Admissions Inquiry. The inquiry is intended to help our Admissions Officers learn more about your prospective student, schedule visits, and reach out regarding other fun and exciting opportunities at La Salle.
Our application for the 2024-2025 school year is now available! All prospective students are required to fill out an Application for Admission.
There is a $100 non-refundable application fee due at the time of submission for all applications.
Once an application is submitted, interested families may apply for financial aid through our Clarity Financial Aid Application.
The student/parent interview process provides our Admissions Review Committee with the opportunity to meet and chat with the prospective student, as well as their parents.
We require all students and parent(s)/guardian(s) to interview with a member of the Admissions Team as part of the application process (typically held in January). We encourage all families to schedule their interviews as soon as possible, as spaces are limited. Parents will have the ability to schedule an interview through the SchoolAdmin application portal after submitting an application for admission. Available slots will be available to choose from beginning in November 2023 for our January/February 2024 interview times.
Freshman applicants must submit two recommendations: one each from the student’s current English and Math teachers. Please login to your application portal to send the recommendation requests to the teachers directly.
Once the teacher has completed and submitted the recommendation, it will be sent directly to our admission team. Your applicant checklist will be updated to show that the recommendation was received.
Transfer applicants must submit at least one letter of recommendation from a current teacher. Be sure to log in to your application portal to send the recommendation to your desired teacher.
Transcripts provide our Admissions Review Committee with a means of evaluating a student’s academic progress at their previous school(s). However, transcripts are just one part of our holistic review of an applicant.
Freshman Applicants: 6th, 7th & 8th grade transcripts are required to complete your application.
Transfer Applicants: All high school transcripts are required to complete your application.
After creating a SchoolAdmin account and submitting an application, use the Request Transcripts section of the portal to request your transcripts from your previous school(s).
We offer optional Course Advancement Testing on Saturday, January 13, 2024, and Saturday, January 20, 2024. Our faculty developed our course advancement tests and will provide prospective 9th-grade applicants with the opportunity to place in advanced or honors courses if offered admission to La Salle. Available course advancement tests include English, Math, and World Languages. Note that the placement tests will not be used as a measure or evaluation tool for the admission decision process. Prospective families may sign-up for course advancement tests in their SchoolAdmin portal after submitting an application for admission.
Students who choose not to participate in the course advancement process will be placed in standard courses (e.g.. Algebra 1, World Language 1, etc.) if offered admission to La Salle. Course advancement appeals will not be considered if a family chooses not to participate in the course advancement test process.
La Salle will not be accepting any standardized test scores (HSPT, ISEE, etc.) for consideration or review as a part of the admissions process. Test scores sent to La Salle will not be considered. The below students will be *required to submit an English proficiency exam when applying for admission to La Salle:
International students who do not speak English as their first language
Domestic students who have fewer than two years of English as the primary language of instruction
Students who are or were enrolled in an English-language support program within the last two years
The TOEFL IBT and Duolingo English exams will be accepted to fulfill the English proficiency exam application requirement. Below, you will find our minimum score requirements for each exam:

*Exceptions to the English Proficiency Requirements – Students who have three or more consecutive years of English as the primary language of instruction are exempt from the English proficiency requirements, regardless of international or domestic status.

Campus tours serve as a great opportunity for prospective students and parents to explore our campus, ask questions, and learn more about our community together. Though our admissions season events have concluded, we are still offering a few campus tour dates. To schedule a tour, please submit an inquiry and select your preferred date.
La Salle’s student Shadow Day Program offers prospective 9th grade and transfer students the opportunity to experience a “day-in-the-life” of a current La Salle student. Our Admissions Office works closely with a number of local K-8 Partner Schools in scheduling shadow days for entire 8th grade classes. If your child is not attending a shadow day at La Salle with their current school, you’re welcome to register for an available shadow day by submitting an inquiry.
All prospective families are encouraged to join us for our Open House event on Sunday, November 5, 2023, from 12:00 – 2:00 PM! Our Open House event is a great opportunity to explore our campus, meet with current parents, students, faculty, staff, alumni, and coaches, and hear from different speakers about how La Salle provides opportunities to explore their passions and pursue their purpose. It is important that both the student and the parent(s)/guardian(s) thoughtfully express in the application why they want the student to be considered for admission to La Salle.
All high school transcripts are required to complete your applications.
After creating a SchoolAdmin account and submitting an application, use the Request Transcripts section of the portal to request your transcripts from your previous school(s). Note: Transfer applicants seeking admission to 10th grade may be asked to submit 7th and 8th grade transcripts as well.
At least one teacher recommendation is required for transfer applicants. The recommender should be teaching (or have taught) the applicant in a core subject during the current academic year.
Transfer applicants should submit at least one letter of recommendation from a current teacher. Be sure to log in to your application portal to send the recommendation to your desired teacher.
Financial Aid Consideration
While we certainly strive to ensure we can assist all families with a demonstrated financial need, please know that financial aid is very limited for transfer applicants. Please feel free to submit an application for financial aid by visiting our Clarity Tuition financial aid application portal. Disciplinary Record Disclosure
If you are exploring the possibility of transferring to La Salle, we ask that you please disclose any relevant disciplinary issues or concerns from the student’s past/current school during the application process. Failure to do so may impact the admissions process and a final admissions decision.
Admission Process and Decisions
Once we have had the opportunity to review a transfer application, we will inform you about whether we will have your child proceed to the next step, which includes an interview with select members of our Admissions Team. Decisions will be made, on a rolling basis, based on the applicant’s online application, academic transcript, teacher recommendation, student/parent interview, and available space.

Tuition & Financial Aid
The La Salle College Preparatory Board of Trustees meets annually to review and set the tuition for the upcoming academic year. In reviewing our annual tuition and fees, we strive to balance the need to keep any increase to a minimum alongside the need to sustain the overarching excellence of our teachers and programs, all in the spirit of our Lasallian mission and founding.

Important Note: We strongly encourage families to also budget for other non-tuition and fees expenses, such as books ($300-$400/year), uniforms ($250-$300 total), a laptop or tablet device ($300-$1000), lunches, and other optional school-related activities (prom, dances, spirit packs) and costs. Financial aid and scholarships, if awarded, do not cover these types of expenses and should be planned for accordingly.
Tuition Payment Plans: All families have the option to choose between four different payment plans: A One-Payment Option, a Two-Payment Option, a Four-Payment Option, and a 12-Payment Option (Monthly).

As a Lasallian school, La Salle College Preparatory is deeply committed to the mission established by our Founder, St. John Baptist de La Salle, and powerfully expressed in the statement contained in the Rule of the Brothers of the Christian Schools:
“Lasallian education strives to respond to the needs of all youth — especially those who are poor, disadvantaged, or disenfranchised — by conducting schools that are economically, academically, and socially accessible to all.”
In support of this mission, the San Miguel Scholarship, named in honor of the first American Lasallian Saint, is awarded annually to up to seven incoming freshmen. This full-tuition scholarship is offered to Catholic students of academic promise whose family income puts them at or below the federal poverty line. The scholarship is full tuition for four years, including waivers of all textbooks, fees, and uniforms, provided the student maintains an acceptable level of academic achievement, contributes in appropriate ways to the School community, and demonstrates financial need on an annual basis.

Financial Aid Overview
At La Salle College Preparatory and in alignment with our Five Core Principles, we recognize that a private school education is a significant investment. Last year, we awarded more than $3 million in financial aid and scholarships. Our Financial Aid Committee reviews all financial aid applications thoroughly, and we strive to assist as many qualified students as possible. Admission decisions and financial aid awards are kept separate, and requesting financial aid in no way jeopardizes your child’s opportunity for admission.
La Salle is proud to use the Clarity Application to determine a family’s level of financial need based on the information that families share in the application, which includes assets, income, expenses, and debts. Clarity offers a streamlined, mobile-friendly application that can be completed in as short a time as 20 minutes. Additionally, Clarity removes the need to upload your 2022 W2 and 1040 by transferring them directly from the IRS. This reduces the amount of information that you will need to enter manually and makes it possible to complete the application quickly and efficiently.
Financial Aid Policies and Guidelines
- Need-based financial assistance is available to families demonstrating financial need.
- The school reserves the right to consider all available parental resources in determining financial aid eligibility and award amounts.
- Families must reapply for financial aid annually. Financial aid awards are not automatically renewed on an annual basis.
- Custodial parents are required to complete an online application through Clarity for processing.
- Financial information from the non-custodial parent may be required. The school reserves the right to request appropriate documentation to verify custodial arrangements and financial information, if applicable.
- Families are obligated to disclose any additional awards or financial assistance received on behalf of the student as part of their financial aid application. These amounts will be considered in determining the final financial aid award. If an external award is received after financial aid has been awarded by La Salle College Preparatory, the school reserves the right to reevaluate its financial aid award and make necessary adjustments.
- Applications submitted without complete documentation will not be processed. All custodial and non-custodial parents, when applicable, must provide Clarity with the required supporting documentation upon request. The requested documents may include, but are not limited to:
- Most recent pay stubs
- Most recent W-2 forms for all employment
- Most recently filed federal tax returns: 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ with all schedules
- Most recently filed business tax return: 1120, 1120S, 1065 (if applicable)
- Supplemental income documentation: Social Security income, Welfare, Food Stamps, Child Support, 1099-M Forms, Worker’s Compensation, Unemployment, Veterans Benefits, Housing Allowance, etc.
- Families must adhere to the established deadlines for submitting forms and tax returns. Failure to do so may result in the financial aid application not being processed.
La Salle College Preparatory reserves the right to withdraw or modify financial aid at any point during the academic year if discrepancies are discovered with the information provided by the family.

To get started, please go to the Clarity Application and create an account. The application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete. The Clarity Application is also mobile-friendly, so you can complete it from anywhere. You are also able to save your progress and return at any time. At the end of the application, there is a $60 fee to submit, and you can share your application with additional schools that accept the Clarity Application for no additional charge. Simply use the dropdown menu in the application to select those schools. Please remember to return to your dashboard after you complete and submit your Clarity Application, as La Salle does require certain additional documents to complete your application in full.
For new/incoming families, the school will notify applicants of financial aid awards upon receiving their admissions decision.
For returning families, the school will notify you of your award in January, prior to the re-enrollment process.

Merit-Based Scholarship Information
In addition to need-based financial aid, we also offer renewable, merit-based scholarship opportunities for prospective families. Our Presidential Merit Scholarship and Alumni Association Lasallian Heritage Scholarship are merit-based scholarships that require additional steps for consideration. More information on these scholarships can be found below. Merit-based scholarship applications are available on SchoolAdmin (after submitting an admissions application) and must be submitted by January 12, 2024. Note that merit-based awards are only awarded to incoming freshmen (transfer students are only eligible for need-based financial assistance on a limited basis).
The Presidential Merit Scholarship is annually awarded to incoming freshman students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and potential as indicated through their junior high GPA, recommendations from their current school, a personal statement, and La Salle honors placements. Recipients will be awarded a scholarship of up to $12,500, renewable each year of their attendance at La Salle. Once at La Salle, recipients must maintain a 3.7 grade point average every semester with no grade below a C-, and maintain an exemplary discipline and attendance record. This is a merit-based award; families do not need to apply for financial aid in order to apply for the Presidential Merit Scholarship.

This scholarship is available for incoming 9th-grade students. The Presidential Merit Interest Form can be completed via the SchoolAdmin parent portal, which is available after submitting an application for admission.
The Lasallian Heritage Scholarship is sponsored by the La Salle College Preparatory Alumni Association and focuses on recognizing individual students who embody the tenants of faith, service, and community- pillars of our Lasallian tradition. This is a $10,000 scholarship that is applied over four years to the Student’s tuition ($2,500 a year). All prospective freshmen applicants are eligible to apply. For the scholarship to be renewed each school year the student must be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the School.
Recipients of the Lasallian Heritage Scholarship will be given the opportunity to work with the Alumni Office and the Alumni Board during their time at La Salle. This may include assisting with and attending alumni events and serving as an Ambassador of the Alumni Association for the student body. Exact responsibilities will be mutually agreed upon based on the student’s schedule and availability.
Applicants are evaluated based on the following criteria: leadership/involvement within their community, service, and citizenship. The recipient will be notified by mail in their acceptance packet. The official award will be presented at the recipient’s 8th Grade Awards Ceremony.
The application for the Alumni Lasallian Heritage Scholarship is available via SchoolAdmin. The deadline for applications is January 12, 2024.

Freshman Applicants: Our Priority Application Deadline is Friday, January 12, 2024, for applicants seeking admission for 9th grade during the 2024-2025 school year. Applications received by this date are provided priority consideration over those who submit their application after this date.
Transfer Applicants: Transfer applicants are those seeking admission who have already attended at least one year of high school. La Salle considers transfer applicants on a limited, space-available basis. The priority application deadline for regular transfer applicants for the 2024-2025 school year (starting August 2024) is Friday, January 12, 2024. Applications received by this date are provided priority consideration over those who submit their application after this date.
Mid-Year Transfer Applicants: Mid-year applicants are those seeking admission for the spring semester (starting January 2024). Spaces are very limited for mid-year transfer applicants. The deadline for mid-year transfers is Wednesday, November 1, 2023.

Transcripts, Personal Statements, and Teacher Recommendations are due by Monday, February 5, 2024, via the SchoolAdmin Application Portal.

Yes. Financial aid is need-based. Applications are available in early November on our website. Admission is need-based blind, meaning admission to La Salle does not take financial aid needs into consideration. Currently, 35% of our students receive some form of financial aid. Yes. Currently, approximately one-third of the student population is non-Catholic. Being a part of the Catholic faith is not required for admission to La Salle College Preparatory.
La Salle has consistently received approximately 500 applications for 170 spaces over the last three years for the freshman class.

At La Salle, we offer a unique high school experience focused on nurturing personal growth through rigorous academic studies. Our inclusive teaching approach blends every student’s talents and interests, ensuring we meet their specific needs. Through various on and off-campus programs, we strive to prepare our students to be globally competent citizens.
The Office of Global Programs is dedicated to fostering international collaboration and embracing multiculturalism and diversity on campus. We provide opportunities for all members to share, learn, and support one another. Our aim is to offer a 21st-century education that encourages students to look beyond their own culture, ethnicity, and values.
For our international students, we provide individualized support and mentorship through our Office of Global Programs, a supportive team, and teachers. Our goal is to offer a memorable experience and make La Salle College Preparatory their second home away from their own.
The concierge service that we offer to our international students at La Salle includes but is not limited to the following:
- International Student Application Support: Once students submit their online applications and are approved, we offer personalized assistance to help them navigate the admissions and enrollment process smoothly.
- Academic Guidance Counseling: Our dedicated counselors offer one-on-one support to international students, aiding them in scheduling courses, understanding assignments, improving grades, and managing their homework effectively.
- Co-curricular Involvement: We encourage active participation in school clubs, sports, and various co-curricular programs, providing assistance to integrate seamlessly into campus life.
- College Preparation Advisor: For students aspiring to pursue higher education, our College Preparation Advisor provides focused attention, guiding them through the entire college application process. From crafting compelling college admission essays to interview preparation and testing strategies, we leave no stone unturned to ensure college acceptance. We also offer valuable feedback on college applications before submission and provide guidance on securing strong letters of recommendation.
- Real-Life Experiences: We believe in enriching the educational journey with real-life experiences. Hence, we offer opportunities for job shadowing, career exploration, and community service, allowing our international students to gain practical insights beyond the classroom.
- Enhanced Breaks and Summers: We offer a wide array of enriching opportunities for international students during school breaks and summer vacations, including on-campus summer schools, camps, and study abroad programs. This empowers students to pursue their passions and interests with flexible choices.

Application Process
Prospective International students must complete the Admissions application online. There is a $100.00 USD non-refundable application fee to apply.

We require all international applications to submit the following documents that are required for your admissions application:
1. Original transcripts for the last two years translated into English
2. Recommendations
Applying for 10th or 11th Grade Transfer – Require Recommendation from any one of the student’s current teachers
Applying for 9th Grade – Require Recommendation from Math and English teachers
3. English Proficiency test results
The TOEFL IBT and Duolingo English exams will be accepted to fulfill the English proficiency exam application requirement. If you have an English Proficiency Test Score that differs from TOEFL IBT or Duolingo, we kindly encourage you to contact Mr. MJ Mao, Director of Global Programs, at mjmao@lasallehs.org for further assistance and guidance.
4. Personal Statement (Requirements available via the application portal)
Once your application is received and all Supplementary Application Materials are submitted, our Admissions Officer will contact you via email to schedule your Admissions Interview. Both students and their parents are required to attend the interview. This process provides our Admissions Review Committee with the opportunity to meet and chat with the prospective student, as well as their parents.
Students and parents also have the option to schedule an interview via the online application portal.
If you are accepted by La Salle College Preparatory, Mr. M.J. Mao will assist you in completing your registration process and Form I-20 Application. Students who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents must have a Form I-20 to apply for a student visa to enter the United States, and apply for benefits.

Global Student Status:
At La Salle College Preparatory, students who are not United States citizens or permanent residents are classified as global students and will be issued a global student enrollment contract.
If a student obtains permanent residency status during their enrollment at La Salle, they may request a status change by submitting a copy of their physical green card to the Office of Admissions. Approval of the status change will be reflected in the contract for the subsequent school year.
Once the enrollment contract is signed, the international status and tuition amount of the student(s) will remain unchanged until the conclusion of the current school year, irrespective of any alterations in legal status.
Additional Requirements
Medical health insurance/coverage is required before international students can begin classes. After receiving an acceptance letter and arriving in the U.S., health insurance must be purchased. Proof of health insurance must be provided to Mr. M.J. Mao prior to the first day of school.
We recommend students use ISO Insurance. ISO offers a BASIC PLAN and a PLUS PLAN, both at affordable costs.
Students who choose to purchase other health insurance plans must have a minimum coverage that matches the ISO basic plan.
Students will not be allowed to attend classes unless their medical paperwork is complete. All medical records need to be clearly identified in English. The options for providing immunization records are listed below:
California School Immunization Record and Requirements Form
The California School Immunization Record must be filled out and signed by your doctor.Submit ALL pages of your vaccination history, with your name and date of birth clearly listed. Please note that hand-written records are not acceptable. For students who have hand-written immunization records, please complete a translation at your local custom, and provide the school with a digital copy.
Students are required to provide the following documents to the registrar prior to the first day of school.
Copy of form I-20 signed by both student and parents/guardians
Copy of student’s passport identification page
Copy of student’s passport F-1 student visa page, with entrance stamp
The below students will be *required to submit an English proficiency exam when applying for admission to La Salle:
International students who do not speak English as their first language
Domestic students who have fewer than two years of English as the primary language of instruction
Students who are or were enrolled in an English-language support program within the last two years
The TOEFL IBT and Duolingo English exams will be accepted to fulfill the English proficiency exam application requirement. Below, you will find our minimum score requirements for each exam:

*Exceptions to the English Proficiency Requirements – Students who have three or more consecutive years of English as the primary language of instruction are exempt from the English proficiency requirements, regardless of international or domestic status.
Homestay Program
La Salle College Preparatory is committed to providing the best homestay experience for our international students.
In the La Salle Homestay Program, students are accommodated with families of our school’s students, staff, or faculty. These carefully selected host families create a safe, caring environment where students are well-supervised both at school and at home to ensure their safety and well-being. We believe this living arrangement is especially beneficial for international students coming from diverse cultural and language backgrounds.
Living with a host family offers numerous advantages. It allows international students to immerse themselves in a new culture, improve their language skills, forge lasting relationships, and become part of a connected and cooperative global community. Our supportive and caring host families provide exceptional experiences that our international students will cherish for a lifetime.
If you are in need of homestay services, please reach out to Mr. M.J. Mao at mjmao@lasallehs.org, and he will assist you in connecting with our carefully chosen host families. For international students living with parents or other family members, proof of residence with an immediate family member is required.
Our host families offer:
– A warm, secure, and healthy environment
– Guidance on local cultural differences and Western education standards
– Transportation to and from school, events, and social activities
– Three nutritious meals a day, seven days per week
– A private bedroom for the student
– Access to laundry facilities at no extra cost
– Participation in appropriate family activities when feasible within the student’s schedule
All host families undergo a thorough screening and selection process before being accepted into our Homestay Program. This includes an application, Live Scan Background Check, and on-site home visits and interviews conducted by trained school staff.
